Meet
Your Neighbor Community Event
(6-08)
Farmers,
community leaders and
neighbors attended the “Meet
Your Neighbors” event in
Clinton
,
sponsored by the Kentucky
Soybean Promotion Board.
The event was held to showcase
the importance of the swine
industry in our state and was
held at Kimbell Farms.
Attendees had the opportunity
to tour a swine barn and hear
about the relevance of the
swine industry to
Kentucky
residents.
Mike Ovesen, Executive
Director of the Kentucky Pork
Producers, addressed the
highlights of the pork
industry throughout the state.
Kentucky Soybean Promotion
Board Chairman, Jack Trumbo
drove home the statistical
importance that animal
agriculture plays in
Kentucky
.
“Animal Agriculture accounts
for $629 million in earnings
and more than $190 million in
taxes in the Commonwealth.”
Trumbo continued, “Our
livestock and poultry industry
employs more than 34,000
Kentuckians.”
KSPB would like to offer a
special thanks to Keith and
Klint Kimbell and their
farming staff for hosting such
a landmark opportunity on his
farm.
“Mr. Kimbell is truly
a champion in swine
production.
His operation is a
great model for a clean, well
organized and managed
operation,” stated Trumbo.
The Kentucky Soybean Promotion
Board has adopted a strong
effort to partner with Poultry
and Livestock producers in the
state to promote and protect
our largest customers of
soybean meal,
Kentucky
’s
chickens, beef cows, pigs,
dairy cows and goats.
As
soybean producers, we must
support our livestock
producing neighbors.
Not only does the
livestock industry secure
millions of dollars for the
Kentucky
economy, but it offers
security for our meat and
soybean markets.
